When I first began fishing, a wise experienced fisherman told me, "Keep your bait in the water." It seemed almost too simple to be sage advice, however, every time I fish, that comment reminds me to be patient and persistent.
This same bit of wisdom applies to the world of sales and marketing. So, how does this apply to your sales funnel?
Imagine yourself out on a peaceful lake, casting your line and waiting for a bite. Every time you cast your line, you increase your chances of catching a fish. Similarly, in sales, every interaction with a potential customer is like casting your line. The more you put your offer out there, the more opportunities you have to reel in a sale.
Just like in fishing, the number of casts you make that result in a ‘catch’ is crucial in the sales process. In sales, this concept is often referred to as the sales funnel. The sales funnel represents the journey a potential customer takes from being aware of a product or service to making a purchase.
So, the next time you're working on a sales pitch or marketing campaign, remember the wisdom of the fisherman. Don’t give up too quickly. Instead, keep your bait in the water and be ready to reel in success!
